About me

Short version: I am a former mechanical engineer turned software developer.

Long version: I've been in constant search of my next challenge since I can remember. Building a Lego set according to the instructions is fun the first few times around, but eventually I had to ask myself, "how tall of a structure can I build with Legos?" As it turns out, I was unable to answer that question as a result of sibling sabotage, but I was nearly to the ceiling with no signs of slowing down! Regardless, that ambition has remained with me through optimizing manufacturing processes, running 10 miles at 6am when it's 10 degrees out, woodworking with only hand-tools, and now especially through software development.

I look forward to embracing my next challenge and solving it with a bit of curiosity, determination, and perhaps Ruby on Rails.

Lets Jam is a community-building web application that allows musicians or aspiring musicians to find others to jam with. A user can search for local 'jammers' in their area by name, instrument, genre, or distance. A user can send other users "Jam Requests" in hopes to connect with them. A user can also edit their profile with the options of changing their instruments, genres, names or about me. Lastly, a user can view all of their connected friends in hopes to continue jamming with them in the future.

This application utilized Service Oriented Architecture to build out a frontend with Angular and Typescript and a backend with Python (Flask).
